How to get the best out of cartridge waxing

Cartridge waxing is a good way of waxing large areas, like arms, legs, back and chest, and is a good alternative for the traditional strip waxing done using hot wax. It is faster, so it gets you out of the salon quicker, and the results are great. The whole premise of cartridge waxing is the use of cartridges of premixed wax which heats on a charger to a designated temperature, and all the beautician has to do is roll it over your skin when ready. After which he or she will apply the cloth strips and pull off unwanted hair. It is economical, and it is also less time consuming as the beautician will not spend extra time laying on the wax using the spatula and checking if it was laid on right. But to get the best out of cartridge waxing, there are some dos and don’ts which you should see is being followed. Make sure the cartridge head is correctly oriented The cartridge head should be perfectly oriented and not be off centre in any way. If you find a cartridge that is not sitting right, either return it or dispose of it. This will ensure there are no side effects which the manufacturers never foresaw and also that your end result is smooth and problem free. Test the heat needed before setting the temperature mark After setting the heat to the recommended temperature test it on your skin by rolling on a bit on your skin. This is because not everyone’s skin has the same sensitivity. So what might be comfortable for you will not be so for another and might scald yet another one. Once you have determined your level of comfort, the charger can be calibrated to that mark. This will ensure that not only do all the hair follicles come out, but also no burns on your skin. Ideally the temperature mark should not exceed 4.5. Don’t keep changing the temperature Once you have fixed on the temperature that is comfortable for you, that also melts the wax, stick to it. This will ensure your skin will not rebel against the sudden changes of temperature and go red and blue at will. Make sure the cartridges are not reheated Cartridges used for cartride wax are designed in a way so it needs to be heated once to designated temperature, and then used or discarded. If it is reheated for reuse it shall entirely be at your own risk. Make sure cartridges are heated only once per cartridge. This will ensure there are no side effects which the manufacturers never foresaw. Make sure the...

Step-by-step makeup for beginners

There’s always a first time to everything Whenever we think of makeup, and women, we invariably assume they were born with the knowledge about how to go about getting it  right from the time they were born. But there has been a first time with all the ladies with fabulous makeup today, and there will be a first time with the young girls who can’t wait to get out of school to forget the uniform and start paying attention to their appearance. Often, these young girls are shy to ask because it is assumed that they are supposed to know these things already. So here’s a little handy step by step guide to do makeup for beginners. After which once you get into the flow, you will learn and improvise on your own, and gradually add more makeup components beyond the basic. First get your skin ready for your make up following these simple steps 1. Clean your skin Remember, makeup must never be applied on skin that is not squeaky clean. Otherwise your makeup will not have the desired effect, and it will lead to skin infections, complications and breakouts which you would definitely want to avoid. Clean your skin of all impurities by using a gentle cleanser followed up by a mild toner. Start using the mildest varieties available in the market and experiment later to find which one suits your skin the best. 2. Moisturise your skin If you do not moisturise your skin, your skin will produce extra oil through the day to make up for it. This will lead to not just your makeup smudging but also pimples and acne. Use a mild oil based moisturiser if your skin is dry. Use a gel or water based moisturiser if you skin is oily. Let your skin absorb the moisturiser for at least five minutes before moving on to the next step. 3. Apply foundation Foundation not only covers up fine lines and wrinkles that could hinder the smooth application of your makeup, but also protects your skin from damage from free radicals, the sun and atmospheric pollution. Choose a foundation that matches your skin tone for a natural look. Otherwise your face will stand out like a separate entity from your body and will give you an undesirable artificial look. Put a few dabs of foundation on your cheeks, nose, forehead and skin, and then blend it in by spreading it with your fingers or a foundation brush. 4. Use a concealer While a foundation covers lines and wrinkles, a concealer hides dark circles and blemishes. Put a tiny dot of concealer under each...

#womensdayeveryday

It’s Women’s Day today. And it will be so tomorrow. Has been so yesterday. Can we really pinpoint a single date to celebrate Women’s Day? Any day is Women’s Day where she is being celebrated. Whether it be in thoughts, actions or words. And if she is not being celebrated so often, she should be. Because she does not pick and choose days in which to bloom in all her glory, sense of responsibility, multitasking abilities, and in making the world livable to say the least. #womensdayeveryday Let us take a typical day Somewhere a doctors rushes to hospital after an early morning call. To aid a woman delivering a baby. A baby who one day could change the world, or just make someone happy. Kudos! Somewhere else a woman brings someone his or her morning tea with a special ingredient of her own. Her smile. Makes that simple cup of tea more tasty to the other person. Kudos! Yet elsewhere a woman delicately places her hand on her partner’s hand to calm a fight brewing between friends, and an evening ends in good will. Kudos! But knowing is not enough Just acknowledging to yourself that women make a difference is almost meaningless. It has to be expressed and celebrated. It is the least a woman can expect in return for her being herself and holding pieces together. We should give her at least that much if not more. Celebration can be a smile, a hug, a special gift for no reason. Or, celebration can be telling her how great it is the way she is managing work and home. It can be a simple or big way of making her feel good in return, for Women’s Day – every day. Celebration can also be recognising the woman in YOURSELF Celebrate other women by all means. But we at Enrich, who believe in ‘Love Begins With You’, feel that you should start by celebrating yourself. You are the woman of today. You not only know your worth but are also not afraid to show that you know. This is not about being arrogant. This is about being proud. No one, other than you, knows what you mean to each different being in your life put together. You owe it to yourself. With no apologies. Celebrate #womensdayeveryday by… How does one go about celebrating oneself? Simple. By giving yourself the importance and individual recognition you give others. Smile into the mirror Go ahead. Do it. With anyone present there or not, interact with your mirror. Smile at yourself. Proudly, happily, and in appreciation. You will feel the good hormones rushing...
