INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY-ENRICH
Yoga is an invaluable gift of ancient Indian tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature and a holistic approach to health and well-being. Yoga is more than exercise – it facilitates development of the sense of oneness with ourselves, the world and Nature. It has been around for thousands of years, and has recently regained popularity for people having to deal with the pressures of daily life.
Yoga has various aspects, i.e. mental, physical and spiritual. It energizes the soul, relaxes the body, strengthens the posture and promotes correct breathing. After going through the asanas, one feels benefitted by a more positive outlook, enthusiasm, and a general sense of self-awareness. Yoga provides clarity of thought, firms power in one self, and improves self -confidence by replacing stress with peace. Modern medical advancements and research support the integration of various traditional healing techniques, including yoga, for health and longevity. Solutions to prevalent health issues must include allopathic as well as traditional healing techniques. Yoga is beneficial for disorders like diabetes, hypertension, musculoskeletal and psychiatric disorders.
The initiative towards the adoption of International Yoga Day was taken up by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. On December 11, 2014, the 193 member United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) approved the proposal put forth by a record 177 co-sponsoring countries, and established 21st June as the “International Day of Yoga”. In its resolution, the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) recognized that yoga provides a holistic approach to health and well-being, and wider dissemination of information about the benefits of practicing Yoga for the health of the world population was deemed necessary.
At Enrich, Yoga Day was celebrated by practicing yoga asanas in all the salons by an assigned instructor. The designated instructor was dressed in a particular t-shirt, along with badges provided by B&WSSC and shared with the participants in all the respective salons information about yoga, its importance and the meaning of International Yoga Day as well as its purpose. It was conducted one hour before the opening of the salons. They had an option to perform any out of Traditional Yoga, Aqua Yoga, Paddle Yoga and Power Yoga.
The response shown by all the salons was commendable, as a very high number of staff turned up early to show commitment to yoga. Planet Enrich identifies with a holistic approach to health, well-being and spirituality, which spurred great participation in this program. After all, Love Begins With You!
